Jay's Stamps

Shipping & Handling

First of all, In my experience Shipping has always been the Scariest part of a stamp purchase. I have purposely gone out and purchased stamps from over a dozen different vendors to "see" just how they prepare YOUR stamps for shipment.

I have been impressed with a few of them, not so impressed with a few and have been scared to death to open quite a few. I sure am Thankful that my carrier has a good idea of what I'm receiving and tries to keep them in one flat piece without folding them in half and stuffing them in the box.

As a result, I have vowed to Meticulously prepare your stamps for delivery with every possible "Bad Element" in mind as I do so.

Here is a step by step account of what I go through with each and every package that is prepared for

shipment out in the Big Bad World of Postal Delivery (Rain, Sleet or Snow .... the mail must Go).

1.   I separate and wrap the stamps in Glassine paper so that gumming does not touch other stamps in the package.

2.    Your Free Surprise Gift is tucked into the wrapping.

3.    The entire package is then sealed in Plastic. THIS is the step that's the Most Important in my opinion, as I have received packages that had gotten wet during there travel and the stamps were stuck to the package.

4.    The package is then attached to corrugated Cardboard.

5.    A Packing slip is inserted.

6.   Then another layer of dense pressed cardboard is applied to create a sandwich.

The 2 layers of cardboard are taped together with the stamps carefully tucked inside with no edges protruding.

7. The "sandwich" is then inserted into a custom "cut to fit" 28 lb. brown kraft paper envelope.

A 24 lb. white woven envelope is used for smaller packages.

The reason I take the time to cut the envelope to fit is so there is no "sliding around" action.

8.    The back of the package including the bottom flap is Completely taped shut with clear packaging tape.

Then ... ALL 4 corners of the package receive a layer of packaging tape to help reinforce them.

NOW .... Onto the Fun Part!    :-)

9. Choosing the stamps to use on your package is much more time consuming but it sure is a lot more enjoyable than slapping a generic label on it.

I use a  non-toxic water based glue stick to apply the postage to your package so that your canceled stamps can easily be removed after they have made their journey. If they are self adhesive, they will peel right off, as the backing paper is still on them.

I personally take your package to the post office, deliver it to the desk and have it hand canceled so that it NEVER gets shoved (Crushed) though a canceling (Thrashing) machine.

As I said in my listings, "We want your stamps to arrive the same way they look Today"
